Why United Way?

I began supporting the United Way early in my career through workplace giving campaigns after my mother-in-law passed away from colon cancer at the young age of 47. My wife, Tanya, and I wanted to give back to those less fortunate than ourselves and help in any way we could. Over the years, I’ve seen the incredible impact the United Way has on our community, and I’m grateful to be part of the special work they do in Marathon County. I look forward to continuing to support their mission and making a difference in the lives of others.

Why do you believe United Way’s work is important for Marathon County right now?

I believe United Way of Marathon County’s work is especially important right now because people in our community need support, and meeting those needs takes more than the efforts of any one organization. United Way listens, identifies where help is needed most, and directs resources where they can make the greatest difference.

What impact or initiative of United Way stands out to you the most?

What stands out to me most is United Way’s ability to bring philanthropic organizations and community partners together around shared needs. By helping them coordinate their efforts, United Way can turn individual contributions into a stronger, more lasting impact for Marathon County. That thoughtful, collaborative approach is why I believe so strongly in its work.

What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend in Marathon County?

My favorite way to spend a weekend in Marathon County is with family, enjoying everything our community has to offer. Depending on the season, we might go hiking, kayaking, spend time on the lake, or go snowmobiling. We also enjoy the garden markets, concerts on the square, and performances at The Grand. Once football season starts, though, you’ll often find me watching and cheering on the Packers! There’s always something to do here, and I’m proud to call Marathon County home.
